Counting teeth, checking growth, looking for early decay.
Sitting with you
Young children often sit on a parent’s lap for the first look.
Cleaning if appropriate
Gentle, and only if the child is comfortable.
Fluoride where indicated
Discussed with you first.
Home-care coaching
Brushing technique for their age, and diet habits that matter most.
X-rays only if needed
Not routine at a first visit for a young child.
How to prepare them
Keep the language neutral and positive. Avoid words like hurt, shot, or drill, even in reassurance — children hear the noun, not the negative. Reading a book about visiting the dentist beforehand works well.
Try not to promise that nothing will happen; promise instead that we will explain everything first, which is true.
What we can explain here — and what needs an exam
A page can inform you. It cannot examine you.

What to do next
Book a morning slot if you can — young children generally cope better earlier in the day.
